The 2016/17 campaign has been a disappointing one at Carrow Road, with Norwich City failing in their quest for promotion in the Sky Bet Championship.

Following relegation from the Premier League 12-months ago, many expected the Canaries to be battling at the top end of the table with the likes of Newcastle United.

After a positive start to the season under Alex Neil, a top-six finish seemed a real possibility, but damaging defeats in late October and a winless November derailed Norwich’s Play-Off push.

Five months on and the Canaries have sacked Neil and the club are facing another season in the Championship, currently sitting eighth in the table, with just one fixture of the campaign remaining.

The Canaries have now revealed their retained and released list, with Harry Toffolo and Declan Rudd the only two out-of-contract players to receive new deals.

Seven of Norwich’s players will become free agents in the summer, including Sebastien Bassong, Steven Whittaker, Ryan Bennett, Youssouf Mulumbu, Michael Turner and Kyle Lafferty.

Perhaps most surprising is Norwich choosing to release John Ruddy, who has spent over seven years at Carrow Road, making nearly 250 appearances for the club.
