Stoke City have confirmed the signing of Cameron Carter-Vickers but it is not the signing Potters fans were hoping for.

The Tottenham man is a much-needed addition for Nathan Jones' side, coming in on loan for the season to cover for the injured Ryan Shawcross.

Nathan Collins deputised for the missing skipper at the weekend but was at fault for QPR's second goal, which may have prompted Jones' decision to bring in a more experienced centre-back.

Carter-Vickers is only 21 but has already made 64 appearances in the Championship from spells at Sheffield United, Ipswich and most recently at Swansea.

Some Stoke fans are pleased with the latest addition, but given the lack of success of the current set of strikers many wish for another arrival in that department - with Dwight Gayle targeted by many.

Here is some of the reaction to Carter-Vickers signing on Twitter.
