‘Very honest’, ‘Fair play’ – Plenty of Leeds fans react to Man United legend’s opinion of first-team star

Leeds sailed through to the second round of the Carabao Cup last night as they emphatically beat Salford City.

Goals from Eddie Nketiah, Gaetano Berardi and Mateusz Klich secured what was a comfortable night for Leeds and after a shaky first few months in England, goalkeeper Kiko Casilla will have been relieved to have kept his first clean sheet of the season.

Casilla, 32, joined the Whites from Real Madrid last January and despite making some outstanding saves during his time at the club, he’s often had many doubters due to his struggles when facing incoming crosses into his box and his inability to time when he should come out to collect the ball.

One of Salford’s joint owners, Gary Neville, was one of the pundits on Sky Sports last night as he spoke about the game between the two sides.

Neville was critical of the Leeds keeper despite his clean sheet, saying: “He parries two back in towards his own penalty spot. I’d be a nervous wreck playing with him. That’s the first time I’ve seen him live tonight. He made some good saves but…”

Another pundit, Paul Robinson, backed up Neville’s points as neither were keen on the keeper.
