Summer signing Lee Gregory scored the decisive goal in Sheffield Wednesday’s 1-0 win against Fleetwood Town yesterday, which has drawn an excited reaction from fans of the Yorkshire club.
After feeding Dennis Adeniran on a fast break, Gregory was in the right place at the right time to tap in the game’s only goal after Fleetwood goalkeeper Alex Cairns had parried his teammate’s effort.
The 32-year-old, who was starting his first game for Wednesday, had a chance to double the deficit not long after but saw his short-range header come back off the post.
Gregory continued to impress after the break, nearly turning creator when he slid a low cross into the path of Marvin Johnson six yards out before driving toward goal himself later in the half but sending his effort just wide.
In the end, the striker’s 15th-minute goal proved decisive for Darren Moore’s side, who continued their unbeaten start to the season in League One and picked up their second home win on the bounce.

It was an impressive debut for Gregory, who joined from Stoke City at the start of August for an undisclosed fee.
The striker appears to be popular with the Hillsborough faithful already, with many Wednesday fans taking to Twitter to voice their excitement after last night’s game…
Gregory to me looks like the type of striker you need… Got the right amount of arrogance and confidence and openly demands more from himself and everyone else.
Can't remember many strikers we've had with his sort of attitude in recent years.
20+ goals…??? #SWFC https://t.co/5ENBdqp7zJ

My best player tonight, he was demanding things from the team, from a striker I’ve never seen that. He was asking the team to push up, press and aid him, I’ve never seen that and I liked that energy up front
