Championship outfit Reading are interested in a move for former Nottingham Forest left-back Yuri Ribeiro, as per the Reading Chronicle.

The 24-year-old was released from the City Ground in the summer on the expiration of his contract, but made a respectable 25 Championship appearances last term and was part of a side that conceded just 45 goals in 46 league games during the 2020/21 campaign.

He arrived in the East Midlands in 2019 from Benfica along with former Reading loanee Alfa Semedo in a double deal, with both graduating from the Portuguese side's academy in their earlier years and Ribeiro opting to make the permanent jump to English football.

After becoming a semi-regular player for Forest, making 57 competitive appearances in total during his two-year stint there, his time in England may not be done yet with Reading on the prowl for a first-choice left-back.

Omar Richards' departure to Bayern Munch earlier in the summer has left teenagers Ethan Bristow and Imari Samuels as the Royals' only natural full-backs on that side, with Tom McIntyre also filling in there on the odd occasion last season.

However, McIntyre's natural position is at centre-back and with a risk of injuries to the likes of Liam Moore and Michael Morrison throughout the 2021/22 campaign, he might be required there at some point.

With this latest development at the Select Car Leasing Stadium, we take a look at some of the latest reaction from Reading fans on Twitter ahead of this potential move.
