Leeds United have given their fans a slight hope of resurrecting a play-off push in the Sky Bet Championship, after a solid start to Paul Heckingbottom’s reign.

Phil Hay from the Yorkshire Evening Post has today tweeted an update, confirming that the gap of five points has remained after Cardiff City defeated Bristol this lunchtime.

Heckingbottom’s side now travel to Middlesbrough on Friday evening, knowing that victory at the Riverside Stadium could potentially blow the race for sixth wide open.

There are 12 fixtures of the season remaining and plenty of clubs in the race for sixth, but with the return of Samuel Saiz from suspension and a return to winning ways yesterday, Leeds’ supporters are optimistic.
