Reading have some of the most promising young talent's coming through the academy ranks but one departure didn't go down to well.

Tariqe Fosu completed a permanent transfer to Charlton Athletic in the summer of 2017, which certainly came as a surprise to most who would have hoped he could kick on with the Royals.

See how Reading supporters reacted to his departure at the time.

Fosu made one appearance for the Reading first-team, but was hugely impressive in that showing, in a convincing win over Derby on the final day of the 2014/2015 season.

But he decided to move on to the League One side, and has been impressive in his spell with the Addicks.

Fosu could arguably be playing at a higher level, but will be hoping that he can play his part in Lee Bowyer's side's promotion bid this season.

Charlton are currently sat 5th in the League One table and will be keen to return to the Championship after a short absence from the second tier of English football.

The winger has made 26 appearances in total, but will be hoping for more starts, having only made 14 starts this season.

The 23-year-old hasn't lived up to the hype that was first thought of him when he broke into the Reading first-team and he'll be hoping for a better league campaign next season.

If he can build on the potential that he had shown for the Reading youth sides, then he will have a bright future ahead of him, but it's all dependent on whether he gets the regular game time that he needs to develop.
