Eddie Nketiah's loan spell with Leeds United certainly didn't go as originally hoped for, with the on-loan Arsenal man struggling for consistent minutes with the Yorkshire-based club.

The 20-year-old signed on loan at Elland Road in the summer transfer window, but made just two league starts in total for the high-flying Championship side.

This prompted Arsenal to recall Nketiah from his loan spell at Leeds, and he has since gone on to feature for the Gunners first team, and scored his first goal of the season for them at the weekend against Everton.

In an interview with the Yorkshire Evening Post, Nketiah admitted that he understood Bielsa's decision to keep him out of the starting XI for the majority of his time with the club.

But the forward was quick to state that Marcel Bielsa was a demanding coach, and that he learned a considerable amount from the Argentine in his brief spell at Elland Road.

"Sometimes the manager makes his decision and you have to deal with it.

"It’s about learning from that environment. It’s a very good environment to be in, he (Marcelo Bielsa) is a very demanding coach and I learned a lot."

Leeds are currently sat second in the Championship standings, and will be hoping they can strengthen their grip on an automatic promotion place with a positive result in their next match against Middlesbrough on Wednesday evening.

The Verdict:

It's good to hear that Nketiah is speaking highly of Marcelo Bielsa.

The Argentine clearly had his reasons for keeping Nketiah out of the starting XI in favour of Patrick Bamford, and Leeds are seeing the rewards of that now, with Bamford's work-ethic suiting Leeds' high-pressing style of play this season.

Bielsa has inherited the same group of Leeds players that have previously struggled in the Championship, so it's a credit to the Leeds boss for the job he has done with the Whites in a relatively short space of time.

Nketiah has evidently learnt from the experience with the Whites, and will be hoping to continue his run in the Arsenal first team as this year's campaign progresses.
