Ricky Van Wolfswinkel scored twice as Norwich City had little trouble in sweeping aside non-league Braintree United 6-1 in a pre-season clash at the Amlin Stadium.

Kyle Lafferty scored the pick of the bunch with a stunning free kick from 25 yards, while Andrew Surman, Nathan Redmond and Bradley Johnson completed the scoring for the Canaries.

Surman broke the deadlock early on when he slotted home, before Lafferty doubled the advantage when he sent a dipping free-kick way beyond Nick Hamann.

Van Wolfswinkel came off the bench in the second half and made it three within a minute of his introduction, when he pounced on an error from the goalkeeper.

Redmond added a fourth soon after, while Johnson slotted home the fifth from the edge of the area.

Sean Marks scored a consolation for Braintree, before Van Wolfswinkel grabbed his second in the closing minutes.
