West Bromwich Albion boss Valerien Ismael has told his players to 'show up and take responsibility' for their individual mistakes.

Ismael's side currently sit third in the Championship table, yet that positive league position doesn't tell the whole picture. West Brom have slipped six points adrift of Fulham in second and are enduring tough moments.

It's explained by the Express and Star that West Brom have conceded more goals from 'individual errors' than any other side in the Championship this season, which is undoubtedly working against them.

Ismael is aware that there's no training method for ironing out those mistakes, urging his players to take more responsibility.

As quoted by the Express and Star, he said: “There is no training session on how to avoid mistakes. It’s about speaking to the players and getting them to face the mistakes they have made.

“We have made videos on all the mistakes we have made.
“At the end of the day, if it’s a quality question then we need to make a change. It’s simple like that.
“The players have quality. They need to show up and take responsibility.”

West Brom are back in action this coming weekend following the international break, taking on Huddersfield Town at the John Smith's Stadium.

The Baggies have lost only three times in the opening 17 fixtures of the Championship season, but they've also drawn on five occasions, dropping points far more frequently than AFC Bournemouth and Fulham.

The Verdict

It's concerning that West Brom are giving up so many cheap goals and, for Ismael, it'll be difficult for him to put his finger on what's going wrong.

He's right in the sense that it is all on his players.

The system West Brom play mean there's very few players getting isolated, they just need to step up and try to retain their concentration across a full 90 minutes.

It isn't like West Brom can't do that, we've seen them pick up some decent results this season already. It's just about them doing that as consistently as the Championship's best sides.
