Sunderland hopes of automatic promotion from League One this season were dealt a major blow on Saturday afternoon, as they were beaten 2-1 by Charlton Athletic at The Stadium of Light.

After Josh Scowen's own goal had put Charlton ahead at half time, Alex Gilbey doubled the visitor's lead midway through the second half, and although Scowen himself pulled one back for the Black Cats, Sunderland were unable to haul themselves back into the game.

As a result, that defeat means that Sunderland's chances of claiming a top two spot in the League One table are currently out of their own hands.

Perhaps not surprisingly therefore, plenty of Sunderland fans were not exactly happy as they took to Twitter to give their thoughts on that defeat, and one player who came in for some scrutiny during that game, was Lynden Gooch.

Having been restored to the starting lineup after dropping to the bench for the draw with Peterborough last time out, Gooch was restored to the first XI here, but was unable to make much of an impact on the game, with the wideman failing to pose much of a threat to the Charlton defence before being withdrawn just past the hour-mark.

That is something that did not go unnoticed by a number of Black Cats supporters, and here, we take a look at what some of them had to say about the 25-year-old's latest performance.
