Many Birmingham City supporters have been split over whether the Blues are doing the right thing, after agreeing to allow Odin Bailey to join League Two Forest Green Rovers on loan for the rest of the season.

Bailey has managed to get impress Pep Clotet enough to have been a regular part of the Blues’ first team squad throughout the campaign so far, with the forward having made his debut for the club as a second half substitute in their defeat at Portsmouth in the EFL Cup back in August.

The 20-year-old has since gone onto make six appearances for the Blues in the Championship, and he scored his first senior goal for the club netting a late winner in Birmingham’s 2-1 win against Middlesbrough at St Andrews back in October.

However, with the Blues having the likes of Lukas Jutkiewicz, Alvaro Gimenez and Kerim Mrabti all ahead of Bailey in the pecking order in the final third, the 20-year-old could potentially benefit from securing a loan move away during the rest of the season.

Bailey is likely to be given regular game time during the rest of the campaign at Forest Green, and he could help to add some extra attacking quality as the club look to finish inside the play-off places for the second successive season.

Some Birmingham fans believe the Blues should have kept Bailey around their squad given Birmingham’s lack of options up front, while others feel his departure must mean that Clotet’s side are close to bringing in another forward.
