There was plenty for Steve Bruce to be positive about yesterday at Hillsborough, with his Aston Villa side bouncing back from a miserable week to pick up three points against Sheffield Wednesday.

Goals from Lewis Grabban, Glenn Whelan, Conor Hourihane and Robert Snodgrass secured a 4-2 victory, which helped Villa pile the pressure onto Cardiff City ahead of their clash with Bristol City this afternoon.

Bruce will have been delighted to return to winning ways, with so much of Villa’s play, particularly late on, encouraging.

Villa were backed by a strong following at Hillsborough, with scenes at the full-time whistle showing how much the victory meant.

However, those 4,000+ in the away end were not impressed with all of Bruce’s side, with Josh Onomah once again receiving plenty of criticism following his contribution.

The 20-year-old lasted just an hour, with Bruce turning to Keinan Davis following a disappointing afternoon for the on-loan midfielder.
