Martin O'Neill suffered defeat in his first game in charge of Nottingham Forest, as Bristol City took all three points from the City Ground.

The Irishman made a few changes to the side and went with a 4-4-2 formation but it didn't really work, with the Robins having more of the play.

The visitors had a few opportunities to take the lead in the first-half but they didn't go ahead until the 70th minute mark, with striker Famara Diedhiou scoring the decisive goal.

That was a major setback for Forest, who are now seven points behind the play-offs with 18 games to go.

A packed out crowd had turned up to back O'Neill, a legend thanks to his contribution as a player, however it was a tough afternoon.

And, it's fair to say some of the supporters now feel any chance of making the top six have disappeared.
