Barnsley have confirmed that they have parted ways with Daniel Stendel after a poor run of results.

The Tykes currently occupy one of the relegation places in the Championship heading into the international break, and Stendel clearly wasn't pleased with his side's performance in a 5-1 defeat to Preston North End on Saturday.

Barnsley got off to a strong start to this year's campaign as they beat Fulham on the opening day of the season, but they haven't won since that victory over Scott Parker's men.

They've slipped down the Championship table at an alarming rate, and their promotion from League One last season under Stendel will seem like a distant memory nowadays.

Stendel took charge of Barnsley back in the summer of 2018, and guided them to an immediate promotion back into the second-tier of English football, but clearly doesn't see his long-term future at Oakwell.

Plenty of Barnsley fans took to social media to issue their thoughts on Stendel's departure.
