Ipswich Town manager Paul Lambert has delivered an encouraging update on midfielder Cole Skuse following the Tractor Boys win against Peterborough United in the EFL Trophy.

Lambert once again used the competition to make changes to his starting line-up and provide chances for some of Ipswich’s squad players and some of their young prospects, although some experienced players starting in the shape of James Norwood and Skuse.

The Tractor Boys managed to take a first half lead at Peterborough with Idris El Mizouri tapping the ball home from close range, but the hosts drew level on the half hour mark, which has how the game finished with Lambert’s side going through 6-5 on penalties, but it was not all positive news as Skuse suffered a knock during the game.

Speaking to the media after the win, Lambert stated that Skuse should be alright ahead of the Tractor Boys’ trip to Coventry on Saturday, despite picking up the knock.

Lambert’s update on Skuse will be encouraging news to Ipswich ahead of their game against Coventry, with the midfielder an integral part of the Tractor Boys’ midfield so far this campaign, having produced some real standout performances.

Skuse’s experience in the middle of the park has been crucial to Ipswich’s strong start to the campaign, and his ability to protect the back four has helped the team remain compact and solid at times when they have been put under pressure.

Lambert will be pleased that his side were able to progress through to the next round of the EFL Trophy and that his two experienced first team players in Norwood and Skuse both came through the contest alright, as the Tractor boys re-focus their attentions back to league action at the weekend.
