Nottingham Forest pair Costel Pantilimon and Zach Clough are likely to leave the club in January after failing to force their way into Sabri Lamouchi's plans.

The new boss took over in the summer and inherited a very big squad, so he had to make quick decisions on who he was going to use moving forward.

And, with the Reds bringing in two keepers it was always going to be hard for Pantilimon to get an opportunity, with the big Romanian yet to feature.

Clough is in the same situation in that he hasn't been involved and Nottinghamshire Live reporter Sarah Clapson revealed earlier today that exits in the New Year seem on the card.

"Lamouchi has been very clear that he’s working with a certain squad, and players like Pantilimon and Clough have not been part of it. Wouldn’t be surprised if Pantilimon and/or Clough end up moving on in January."

As well as that, she added that Manchester City may consider recalling keeper Aro Muric after he has dropped to the bench.

"Might be that Manchester City also reassess Muric’s loan in January. Sure they will have wanted him to be playing games."

The verdict

In truth, this wouldn't be too much of a surprise and you would think that the pair will benefit from leaving the City Ground.

The harsh reality is that Lamouchi has better options in the positions they play and the fact they don't even make the squad means that they are a long way from the XI right now.

As for Muric, it's understandable that City would want him back if he isn't playing but there's no way that Brice Samba can be dropped.
