Rangers are yet to submit a second bid for Swansea City attacker Morgan Whittaker but "clearly" remain interested in striking a deal for him, according to a report from Wales Online.

The Gers submitted a £1m bid last week to try and lure him away from the Swansea.com Stadium - but that offer was rejected by Russell Martin's side who are seeking more for him after seeing him shine at Plymouth Argyle during the first half of this season.

Recording nine goals and seven assists in 25 league appearances under Steven Schumacher, it was perhaps no surprise that he was recalled by the Welsh side who could play him or potentially sell him this month to raise funds.

He isn't short of interest at this point, with sides from the Premier League, Championship and League One all reported to have taken a closer look at him as they potentially weigh up a move for him.

However, the likes of Ipswich Town and former loan club Plymouth are probably unlikely to be able to afford him at this point, with the former moving for another attacking player in George Hirst anyway.

Football Insider believes Rangers are set to launch an improved £1.5m bid but as of yesterday, Wales Online believe a fresh offer is yet to arrive.

The Verdict:

You feel this is a deal worth doing for the Gers considering how impressive he was at Home Park during the second half of this season, though it's unclear how much game time he will get.

If Todd Cantwell links up with the Scottish side too, the Swansea man may face a real battle for an important role in Michael Beale's plans so he will need to seek reassurances regarding his playing time if he's genuinely interested in making the switch to Ibrox.

At 22, there's plenty of room for the Derby-born player to grow and this makes him an attractive option for Beale's side who will want to build a squad for the long term, in their quest to stop Celtic's dominance.

However, at his age, the player needs to be prioritising playing time over anything else and this is why he should be prepared to reject a move for the Gers if he isn't going to be offered the game time needed to develop effectively.

He may get the opportunity to play in Europe if he links up with the Scottish side - but he needs to be playing regularly in the league too and it will be interesting to see whether he becomes a regular starter if he makes this move.
