Nottingham Forest could go into the market to bring in a striker this summer, however they are not interested in former Derby man Matej Vydra.

That's according to the Nottingham Post, who insist that even though the Reds had been recently linked with the Burnley forward, he is not someone they want for a variety of reasons.

Firstly, they know the Premier League side will want to get their £11m back, at least, on Vydra, even though he managed just 13 appearances last season and seems way down the pecking order at Turf Moor.

That would make him a very expensive signing for Forest, with the report stating that Sabri Lamouchi is also prepared to give Tyler Walker a chance to impress after his productive loan spell with Mansfield last season.

Nevertheless, having moved Hillal Soudani and Karim Ansarifard on, combined with Daryl Murphy being put up for sale, it does leave the east Midlands outfit short for options in the final third, even though Lamouchi will only play with one central striker.

The Verdict

Vydra would be an outstanding signing for most Championship sides because he has proven himself at this level over the years and is a very good footballer.

However, you can understand why Forest aren't pursuing a deal as it would be a big outlay for them and with Grabban and Walker available, they might just want a backup option to come in.

Spending around £11m on an individual is also a big ask when you consider the FFP implications of such a deal.

But, even though it won't be Vydra, you would still expect one new face in the final third to be added before the window shuts at the City Ground.
