Queens Park Rangers will rest Angel Rangel and Geoff Cameron for this evening’s League Cup clash with Blackpool.

Steve McClaren’s side switch their attention from the Championship to the League Cup this evening, as they look to progress through their third-round clash with Blackpool.

Ahead of tonight’s clash at Bloomfield Road, London Football News has provided some QPR team news, confirming that Rangel and Cameron will both be rested in a bid to get them fully fit for the weekend’s clash with Swansea City.

Rangel has made five appearances since linking up with the R’s on a short-term deal, but with the defender nursing a groin injury, McClaren will not risk him, in an attempt to get him fully fit to face the Swans at the weekend.

Cameron is still working his way back to full fitness after arriving at Loftus Road late in the summer, with QPR opting to not risk the American against lower league opposition.

A number of QPR’s fringe players are expected to be used against Blackpool, as McClaren looks to make use of his full playing squad.

The QPR boss will have one eye on back-to-back away fixtures in the Championship, with his side travelling to Swansea and then Reading.

The Verdict

The league has to be a priority for QPR this season, so not risking players against Blackpool is a sensible move.

McClaren’s side are also going up against lower league opposition, so the QPR boss will be confident that his side have enough about them to progress to the fourth round, even without Rangel and Cameron.
