West Brom could move to fill some key roles within the club structure in the coming weeks, according to the journalist, Steve Madeley.

The Baggies have a number of vacancies at the club waiting to be filled, including an under-23's coach and head of coaching role. Both have remained vacant as Albion have looked to get other off-field issues sorted out, but Madeley believes the club may now move quickly to resolve the current openings.

"The process will be speeding up now that Richard Stevens has started work as academy manager. There are two positions to fill now - U23s coach and head of coaching", Madeley said in response to a fan question on The Athletic.

The Baggies are firmly on the up under new manager Slaven Bilic, sitting top of the Championship while the international break is in full flow.

And when pressed further about the potential of former interim manager Jimmy Shan stepping into the void, Madeley admitted he would be surprised to see him make a comeback to the Hawthorns.

"I'd be surprised if Jimmy Shan ended up in either role as he left the club for a new challenge, not to revisit an old one, but he is a friend of Stevens' so I imagine there will be conversations if only to get his opinions. Who knows where that might lead", he added.

West Brom take on Middlesbrough next weekend as they look to continue their excellent start to the Championship season.

The Verdict

Interesting take this one but a valid one all the same to answer.

Shan is something of a forgotten name now at the club despite his business with the club last year, so it's a bit of a surprise to see him mentioned by fans.

Madeley is right, though, it's highly unlikely we will see Shan return given the reasons he left in the first place.
