Laurence Bassini's claim against Ken Anderson over the potential purchase of Bolton Wanderers has been adjourned until September 2.

The former Watford got a court injunction to block the sale of the club to Football Ventures despite the deal, that the fans wanted, at a very advanced stage last week.

Therefore, the case has continued to drag on and the claim between Bassini and Anderson at the High Court in Manchester this afternoon was adjourned until the start of next month.

Whilst many would fear that this will mean a takeover still won't be able to go ahead, that doesn't seem to be the case, with Anderson's lawyer describing this as a 'win' and importantly added 'there is no reason why the sale of the Football club cannot continue', as reported by the Bolton News.

However, Bassini also claimed that he was satisfied with the outcome.

"I am very pleased the judge has accepted my continued entitlement to an injunction. I fully believe in the integrity of my claim."

From the football side of things, the club will be desperate for a sale to go through as Phil Parkinson looks to add to his very young squad, with the club second from bottom in League One on -11 points.

The Verdict

The main thing to take out of this for Bolton is that the sale of the club can still go ahead, so that has to be viewed as a major positive.

Of course, nothing seems to be straightforward for the club so the fans won't get carried away but they need a deal to be finalised as soon as possible.

They have been in this situation before though and it will be interesting to see how it plays out in the coming days.
