Watford have a real talent on their hands with Emmanuel Dennis but it looks like they could lose the player to another Premier League team this transfer window.

After bagging a handful of goals in the top flight last season, there are now teams further up the pyramid than the Hornets who want to sign the striker.

One such team is Nottingham Forest, with The Athletic reporting that whilst West Ham are also interested in the player, the 24-year-old and the newly-promoted side have held talks that have been 'encouraging' for the player. It means that perhaps a deal between the club and the player and a potential transfer could be agreed.

Dennis moved to England just last season but has already made quite the impact. He made 30 starts for Watford in their battle against the relegation places and whilst the Hornets were eventually demoted, the striker shone in the Premier League.

He bagged a total of ten goals with six assists along the way - leading to an average of 0.56 goals or assists per 90 - and meaning that plenty Premier League clubs are now keen to keep him in that division.

Whilst the Hornets could no doubt use him in the Championship - and he could bag freely a league lower - it seems like a transfer deal to a top flight club could happen and with the player holding 'encouraging' talks with Forest, it suggests that a deal could be done.

Steve Cooper's side will be trying to snap him up then before the window slams shut - and the player looks certain to play in the Premier League.

The Verdict

Watford have a striker in Emmanuel Dennis who could no doubt bag plenty of goals in the Championship.

If the player was to stay on at Vicarage Road, you would have to fancy the Hornets as one of the favourites for promotion this season. With the goals that he can score in the Premier League - he hit double digits in the top flight during his first season - he could bag a whole lot more in the second tier too.

However, with the likes of West Ham and Nottingham Forest interested in the 24-year-old, there is every chance that he may not get opportunity to play in the Championship next season. Instead, a return to the Premier League and a chance to push on seems more likely.

It'd be a good move for Dennis himself, especially when you consider the level he could play at, but for Watford they would be left searching in the transfer market for another striker to bag the goals for them in the Championship.
