Nottingham Forest had a brilliant season this year achieving promotion to the Premier League after beating Huddersfield Town 1-0 at Wembley to win the play-offs.

Now Steve Cooper will be looking ahead to his club's new season in the top flight and hoping he can make the necessary additions to allow his side to compete.

One name that the Reds have been linked with is Milan Djuric from Salernitana.

The striker is out of contract with his current club this season and although the Italian side have offered him a new contract, he is not short of offers from elsewhere with Forest as well as Turkish side Besiktas, Brentford and Fiorentina said to be interested.

According to Turkish newspaper Fanatik, the 32-year-old is keen to stay with his current club but is also aware that "this is the last important contract of his career".

Furthermore, there is said to be a fair amount of difference between what clubs are offering the player and what he wants.

With the transfer window officially opening tomorrow, Forest will be keen to make a good start with their recruitment.

Therefore, they will be hoping that the striker is able to make his decision about his future sooner rather than later.

The Verdict:

Milan Djuric is an attacking player having scored five goals and contributed five assists this season meaning Forest would be looking to gain a good player.

Furthermore, the player has got consistent goals over the past number of seasons. He only managed to score five in his short Championship spell with Bristol City but in 27 appearances across both seasons, it's not a terrible return.

If Forest could secure this deal on a free transfer then it would be a good bit of business for them as they look ahead to the new season.

However, with the reports around the different levels of offers on the table, it would be interesting to see whether the Reds have an offer that is enough to tempt him away.
