Watford have got a real talent on their hands in the shape of James Garner.

The 19-year-old joined Manchester United's academy at eight years old and looks set for a very bright future at Old Trafford.

Having already made seven senior appearances for the Red Devils, he's certainly a player in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans and the Norwegian will certainly be watching him closely.

With the Hornets, Garner has the perfect platform to thrive.

The ball-playing central midfielder is a real talent and that's been shown by just how quickly he's broken into the first team fold at Vicarage Road.

He only arrived at Watford midway through September but since then he's been a key player for Vladimir Ivic's side.

Garner has made 11 appearances in total for the Championship newcomers, including six starts for his new club.

Ivic has a wealth of options at his disposal in the Watford squad and that means that the midfielder certainly has his work cut out to make an impression this term.

However the fact that he's already established himself in the centre of the park is a big indicator of just how highly he's rated.

While it's yet to be utilised, another string to Garner's bow is his versatility.

The 19-year-old started his career as a central defender and this is a position which the Man United youngster is equally comfortable in playing.

That versatility could be key in helping Watford and Garner himself to a positive campaign.

Early signs suggest that a loan move to the Hornets could be the making of Garner.

If he can continue to be a regular feature in the promotion favourite's first team then it'll do the player the world of good in terms of development.

A year at the top end of the Championship could be the making of Garner and so a lot of people will be watching the midfielder very closely to see just how well he gets on this term.

Who knows, a good season this term and he could even be gracing the top flight on a regular basis next time around.
