Sheffield Wednesday's squad is eagerly awaiting news on the club's next move, in the wake of Garry Monk's exit last night.

Dejphon Chansiri pulled the plug on Monk's time in South Yorkshire last night, with the search for a new manager now underway.

These types of decisions often leave the playing squad in limbo, with Izzy Brown one of those players sure to be paying close attention to where the search for a new manager takes the Owls.

The midfielder was one of Monk's signings back in the summer, with the then-Wednesday boss swooping to bring him in on loan from Chelsea. Previously, Brown has been with Rotherham Huddersfield, Leeds and Luton, but this loan to Hillsborough did seem to present the 23-year-old with the perfect platform.

In truth, it hasn't quite got going for Brown yet in the blue and white of Wednesday.

He started the club's opening game of 2020/21 and completed 90 minutes of the goalless draw with Walsall in the League Cup - a fixture Wednesday would go on to win on penalties.

Brown then assisted Josh Windass' goal on the opening day of the Championship season as Wednesday won 2-0 at Cardiff City.

However, only two more starts have come in the Championship under Monk, alongside three appearances from the bench.

Brown stepped off the bench in a 1-0 defeat to Wycombe Wanderers late last month and then was used as a substitute in last week's surprise win over AFC Bournemouth.

There was more minutes from the bench on Saturday in Monk's final fixture as Wednesday boss, as the Owls drew with Millwall.

Now, Brown waits to see who replaces Monk at Hillsborough as he looks to wrestle back his place in the starting XI.
