Connal Trueman will be hoping that he can make a good impression out on loan away from Birmingham City this season. 

The shot-stopper has made 12 appearances in all competitions for the Blues, but was highly unlikely to get the regular game time he would have been after with the Championship side.

Birmingham boss Aitor Karanka made the decision to send him out on loan for the 2020/21 season, as he linked up with AFC Wimbledon.

The Dons have struggled in League One in recent seasons, having finished 20th in the third-tier standings last term. But Trueman seems to have made a positive impact with his new side this season.

AFC Wimbledon are currently sat 11th in the League One table after their opening 11 matches of this year's campaign, and are unbeaten in their last four matches, which makes for impressive reading after facing some of the promotion contenders.

Trueman has made 11 appearances in all competitions for AFC Wimbledon, and has kept three clean sheets in his time with the club so far.

It's definitely an improvement on where the League One club were at last season, and Dons boss Glyn Hodges will be hoping he can see more of the same from Trueman as the season edges closer to the hectic, and sometimes season-defining festive period.

Trueman has been with Birmingham since (), and if he can impress out on loan, then you would imagine that he'll fancy his chances of challenging for a starting spot in the Blues squad in future seasons.

But the goalkeeper's contract is out-of-contract with Birmingham in the summer of 2021, so he'll be playing for his future in Aitor Karanka's side.

If his form dips, then it seems hard to believe that he'll have earned a new deal with the Championship side, so it's vital that he continues to to build on these impressive showings.
