Norwich City’s James Maddison won’t be leaving the club during this transfer window even though he has been linked with a move from Carrow Road.

Championship leaders Wolves were believed to be the latest club to show an interest in the talented attacking midfielder but according to the Mirror the 21-year old will remain in Norfolk until the end of the season.

The Canaries have just sold fellow creative midfielder Alex Pritchard to Huddersfield Town and whilst the club may need the Maddison cash at some point, supporters would understandably be livid if both their key men were sold in January.

However, keeping hold of the ex-Coventry City man in the long-term looks a very tough task indeed. Whilst Maddison has a contract that runs until 2021 the Yellows financial situation means they will find it hard to resist offers in the summer for their star asset.

Maddison has scored six times and made five assists from 24 appearances this season and the likes of Southampton, Liverpool and Tottenham have reportedly shown an interest in the player.

The Verdict

It’s a tough time to be a Norwich fan and the reality is they know Maddison will be off in the summer.

The club have made significant cuts to their budget over the past 12 months and players will have to leave. They’ve seen Prichard depart and Maddison is next.

Obviously the positive is that it appears he will stay during this window as losing their best two players would really anger the Norwich supporters.
