Former Peterborough United manager Barry Fry has urged Birmingham City to make a move for striker Jack Marriott - although he did confirm that he is yet to hear from the Blues with regards to his star player.

Speaking in a report by the Birmingham Mail, Fry confirmed he has a 'bidding war' ongoing for Marriott - who smashed in 33 goals last season - but that Birmingham are not one of the clubs to make contact as yet.

"I have got seven or eight clubs in a bidding war for him but I have not heard from Birmingham. Blues have been in difficulties of late so I would love him to go there because he is a proper goalscorer.” said Posh Director of Football Fry.

Fry was manager of the Blues back in the mid 90s, and still clearly keeps a keen eye out for his former club and their transfer dealings.

The Posh have a rich history of producing strikers and selling them on for big money, with the likes of Brit Assombalonga, Aaron McClean, and Dwight Gayle just a few of the big money sales over the past few years.

Marriott is expected to go for big money this summer as Championship clubs look to add goals to their squads, and Fry believes that the striker can go right to the top and play Premier League football.
