Dilan Markanday could potentially leave Blackburn Rovers today, according to a report from the Lancashire Telegraph.

Championship sides have up until 11pm this evening to conduct business before the transfer window closes.

A report from Lancs Live last month suggested that Blackburn were open to loan offers for Markanday who has struggled to make an impact for the club this season.

The winger has only made six appearances for Rovers in all competitions and was not included in the match-day squad for his side's draw with Birmingham City last weekend.

It is understood that the winger could potentially leave Ewood Park today following the club's recent decision to sign Sorba Thomas from Huddersfield Town.

Thomas was signed on a temporary basis from the Terriers and could potentially make his debut for Blackburn when they face Wigan Athletic in the Championship on February 6th.

Blackburn will be looking to book their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup this weekend by defeating Birmingham in tonight's replay at St Andrew's.

The winner of this particular clash will face Premier League outfit Leicester City in March.

The Verdict

It will be interesting to see whether Blackburn are able to facilitate a loan move for Markanday at this stage of the window.

The winger is expected to fall further down the pecking order at Ewood Park due to Thomas' arrival.

Instead of being forced to watch on from the sidelines for the remainder of the campaign, Markanday will find it extremely beneficial to join a club who operate in a lower division.

By featuring week-in, week-out over the course of the coming months, the 21-year-old is likely to improve significantly as a player before returning to Blackburn later this year.

Rovers will be relatively confident in their ability to compete for a top-six finish with, or without Markanday as they have shown this season that they are capable of causing issues for their opponents.

Providing that they are able to improve their consistency, Blackburn could potentially qualify for the play-offs in May which will give them the chance to secure promotion via a trip to Wembley Stadium.
