Blackburn Rovers have a 10% sell-on clause with Fulham from the deal that took Tom Cairney to Craven Cottage a few years ago that remains active should he be sold this summer, according to Lancashire Live.
Cairney is a player that has been attracting transfer interest this summer following Fulham’s relegation from the Premier League.
Football League World first revealed that Sheffield United have the midfielder on their radar as they aim to bolster their squad under Slavisa Jokanovic.
A further report from teamTALK has outlined that Fulham are prepared to place a valuation of around £10 million on the midfielder this summer. While that report added that no decision on his future would be made until Scott Parker’s future is clearer.
The Sheffield Star have recently reported that it is looking less likely that the Blades will secure a move for Cairney this summer. That comes with them expecting Fulham to not be wanting to sell to a rival and that Parker’s side might even up their valuation on him to prevent him going to Bramall Lane.

Lancashire Live report that should something be sorted out between Sheffield United or Fulham for Cairney, they would be due a sell-on clause of around 10%. That comes with Rovers not believed to have agreed to erase the sell-on clause in favour of a sum of money in the last few years.
This could potentially be good news for Blackburn, who might be able to see their transfer kitty enhanced further this summer should Cairney depart Fulham. It seems that they will be able to make around £1 million from a potential sale of the midfielder with Parker’s side currently valuing him at around £10 million.
Although they might even get more than that due to Fulham being believed to be willing to increase their valuation on the midfielder. This might be the last summer that Rovers are able to really cash in on that sell-on clause in his deal because he is into his 30s now and that means he probably only has one more major move left in his career.
Sheffield United at this stage do not seem too likely to pull off this transfer move, but there will continue to be interest you would imagine given Cairney’s connection to Jokanovic. So, there is an outside chance that Rovers will see some benefit from their sell-on clause at some stage.
