Middlesbrough remain interested in signing Kenneth Zohore from West Bromwich Albion, with the striker described as a ‘live’ target on Teesside.

Neil Warnock has made no secret of his desire to strengthen Boro’s attacking options this summer, with heaps of pressure on Britt Assombalonga and Ashley Fletcher.

A report from the Northern Echo has touched on Boro’s retained interest in doing a deal for Zohore, describing that interest as live still, despite Derby and Sheffield Wednesday holding interest.

Quiz: 6 of these Middlesbrough facts are false – Can you identify them?

Zohore, 26, only joined West Brom last season from Cardiff City, with the Danish forward scoring three goals in 17 Championship appearances in 2019/20 as West Brom won promotion to the Premier League.

Warnock, of course, worked with Zohore during his time as Cardiff City boss, with the striker playing a part in the Bluebirds’ promotion to the Premier League in 2017/18.

In total, Zohore managed 24 league goals for Cardiff between 2016 and 2019.

This season, Boro have drawn a blank in their opening Championship fixture of the season (a 1-0 defeat to Watford last Friday).

Warnock’s side also crashed out of the League Cup at the hands of Barnsley on Tuesday evening.

The Verdict

Zohore would be a good signing for Boro.

Warnock knows what the striker is all about and he’s the type of target at the top of the field that the Boro boss likes to play with.

He’d complement Assombalonga and Fletcher well and, most importantly, would lift pressure off that pair.

A new striker is a priority signing for Boro and it’ll be good news for them if they get this deal over the line.
