Charlton Athletic are still on course to sign versatile Blackburn Rovers man Tayo Edun on loan, according to South London Press reporter Rich Cawley.

The Addicks are rebuilding under new head coach Dean Holden as they seek to turn around their fortunes in the 2022-23 season, and both Todd Kane and Macauley Bonne have already arrived at The Valley this past week.

And earlier in the week it was revealed by the South London Press that Edun was also set to be arriving at the club, although Holden remained coy on the situation a few days ago.

The deal is yet to be confirmed yet, but it shouldn't be too long before Edun signs on the dotted line with the Addicks.

Capable of playing as a left-back and in midfield, the 24-year-old signed for Blackburn in the summer of 2021 after excelling in League One for Lincoln City.

He has played just 28 times for Rovers in the Championship in the year-and-a-half he has been at the club though, with just one of his eight league outings in the current campaign being from the start.

The Verdict

Charlton might be close to landing Edun, but they could be made to wait a little while longer for confirmation.

He is on the bench for Blackburn's match with Rotherham United this afternoon, which suggests that he is still currently needed at Ewood Park, despite being made available for loan.

Holden though will be very keen to get Edun through the door as left-back isn't exactly an area of the pitch that he is blessed with in terms of depth.

Edun has been very good at League One level before and there's no reason why he can't be effective for Charlton - should they get the deal over the line that is.
