Rotherham United midfielder Ben Wiles has been linked with a move to Sheffield United during this summer transfer window.

A recent update from the Sheffield Star continues to claim that the Blades are interested in a move, however, a formal bid has not been submitted for the 23-year-old.

Despite speculation that a deal has been 'sealed, the report states that this is not the case.

The Blades' chief executive has recently revealed that his side has lodged a bid for a permanent signing already this summer, however, it is believed to be for someone else.

Featuring in all 46 games for the Millers last season as they achieved promotion back to the Championship, the midfielder chipped in with eight goals and seven assists, proving to be a top performer once again in Paul Warne's side.

The verdict

It will be interesting to see if the Blades move forward in their pursuit of the Rotherham star, with the 23-year-old also being linked with a move to Huddersfield Town early on this summer, as per a Patreon from journalist Alan Nixon.

It will be equally as interesting to see who the player is that is subject to the aforementioned bid, with the Blades looking to complete their summer business a lot earlier than they did last time out.

Wiles is someone who has performed well in the Championship before, and if placed in a talented Sheffield United side, he could hit new heights.

Given his age and importance to the team at Rotherham, it is likely that the Millers will demand quite a hefty fee for his services.
