Vincent Tan will not be launching a bid to take over Spanish side Malaga, according to Wales Online.

Tan, 68, and his Berja group consortium emerged as candidates to take over the struggling La Liga 2 side earlier today. But 'sources close to Tan' have reported to Wales Online that the Chinese-Malaysian business isn't interested in tabling a bid for Malaga.

He became owner of Cardiff City in 2010 and has since acquired shares in several other football clubs, including Bosnian side HK Sarajevo, Belgian side KV Kortrijk and Los Angeles FC as well.

In the decade since his takeover, Tan has overseen two promotions to the Premier League, two relegations to the Championship, has redesigned the club crest, briefly change their colours to red, and has the Malky Mackay saga to his tenure too.

Today Cardiff look set for a prolonged stint in the second-tier, after Neil Warnock's departure earlier in the season and Neil Harris' subsequent appointment - the latter is being tasked with cleaning up the mess left by the former, but has since improved Cardiff's chances this season.
The verdict
Cardiff are in a bit of a turmoil since their relegation last season. Warnock has left Harris with a huge wage bill and an expensive squad full of average players, and sorting that out will take time.
The rumours of Tan this morning won't have pleased fans - he's put a good deal of money into the club and seen them into the Premier League twice. But the goal is to stay in the top-flight, and if Tan ultimately feels like that is impossible, he'll soon sell up.
