Sheffield Wednesday have not tabled an offer for free agent Ravel Morrison despite the player training with the club recently, according to Yorkshire Live's Dom Howson.

The Manchester United academy product is a mercurial talent but has struggled to settle anywhere recently and has been without a club since leaving Dutch side ADO Den Haag in January.

He spent the second half of last season on loan at Middlesbrough and, recently, it has seemed he could be set to return to the Championship with Wednesday.

However, Howson has revealed that despite training with the Owls over the past week or so, there is no offer on the table for Morrison as things stand.

It is understood that Darren Moore was keen to run the rule over the attacking midfielder, as he did fellow free agent Danny Simpson.

Morrison featured just three times for Boro last season but had impressive loan spells in the Championship earlier on in his career.

Wednesday are battling for their survival in the second flight at the moment, sitting second bottom and six points adrift of safety, so it would not be a surprise if Moore looked to add some more quality to his squad.

The Verdict

There's been a lot of noise about Morrison recently, with the player even posting a picture of himself training with Wednesday on social media – though he made a half-hearted attempt to hide which club he was at.

However, it seems that at this moment the Owls have made no attempt to sign the attacking midfielder, which is something of a surprise.

Clearly, the 28-year-old is a very talented player – with Leroy Lita labelling him as the most talented he'd ever played with – but it's hard to look past the number of recent failed moves.
