Former Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins is reportedly ready to buy Charlton Athletic from East Street Investments.

ESI completed their takeover of the South London club in January, purchasing it from Belgian businessman Roland Duchatelet, but it has been far from plain sailing over the last few months.

An ugly boardroom dispute between majority shareholder Tahnoon Nimer and former executive chairman Matt Southall, who is understood to have a 35% stake in the club, has been played out on social media and brought the future of the club into question.

Charlton announced on Friday that they had received notice of a change of ownership, though more information on a potential takeover has been lacking up to this point.

According to The Sun, Jenkins is ready to take over the club and will do so this week following EFL approval.

It is understood that the Welshman eyeing up the Addicks for weeks and will now inject cash into the club – inheriting the deal from ESI that will see him purchase the stadium and training ground off Duchatelet at a later date.

Jenkins has got a good record with Championship sides, with the Swans having secured promotion to the Premier League and won the Carabao Cup during his tenure.
