An update has emerged regarding Millwall's hunt for a new manager following Neil Harris' decision to leave the club last week.

Now, London News Online have reported that caretaker boss Adam Barrett will remain in charge for the upcoming clash with Brentford after the international break.

The report details that preliminary interviews have been held by the Lions over the past week and are in the midst of compiling a shortlist, but remain intent on being as thorough as possible in their hunt.

Life under Barrett got off to the perfect start last weekend as the Lions saw off promotion favourites Leeds United at the Den in a 2-1 win.

The three points took them up into 15th place after 11 matches as they look to stear clear of a relegation battle following last-season's intense scrap.

Harris's departure brought an end to an eventful four-year tenure at the helm of the Lions, helping them to a famous promotion win from League One and a large number of memorable cup encounters as well.

The verdict

I think this is the right move from Millwall.

Harris was an excellent manager and it is only right that they make sure they take their time to bring in the best possible replacement for him.

Barrett seems more than capable of holding down the fort for the time being, especially after last weekend's result, and there is a growing sense that the club are going down the right path.

Who they bring in remains to be seen, however, and it will be very interesting to see who they trust to take over the reigns.
