Luciano Becchio still has a lot of love for his former club.
The 34-year-old is currently assistant manager for Spanish lower league side Atletico Baleares after retiring early. However, the best and most prolonged spell of his career was with Leeds because he spent five years there between 2008-2013.
He played over 200 games as well as as scoring 86 goals during that spell, which helped Leeds achieve promotion back into the Championship. Becchio left the club to join Norwich in a swap deal with Steve Morison, but he struggled after that point with just nine goals in the rest of his career.
It’s understandable that he has a strong connection with Leeds because he was well loved there and it was when he was in peak form as he became their main goalscorer.
In contrast to when he was playing for them, Leeds now have issues in front of goal because they lacked a clinical finisher last season, with that being a priority in this transfer window. Abel Hernandez is one player they have been heavily linked to.
