Sunderland picked up a much-needed three points at the weekend, as they ran out 3-1 winners over Lincoln City at the Stadium of Light.

Goals from Tom Flanagan, and a brace from Lynden Gooch proved to be enough for Phil Parkinson's side as they made it five games unbeaten, which has seen them rise up the League One table.

The Black Cats are now sat ninth in the third tier standings, and will be confident that they can force their way further up the table as the season progresses.

Gooch's goals were his sixth and seventh of the season, and he'll fancy his chances of adding to that tally as their promotion bid continues into the second-half of this year's campaign.

Sunderland are next in action on Saturday, when they take on league leaders Wycombe Wanderers in what is certain to be a tricky test for Parkinson's men.

Plenty of the Stadium of Light faithful took to Twitter to issue praise for Gooch after his recent performance in the win over Lincoln City on Saturday.
