Barnsley have confirmed the signing of Standard Liege striker Obbi Oulare on a three-year deal.

The powerful forward becomes just the second player to arrive at Oakwell this summer, with fellow striker Devante Cole also making the move to Yorkshire earlier in the window.

The 25-year-old has been playing football at a top-tier level for a while now and has spent the past three seasons competing in the Europa League.

Oulare struggled for fitness last year, making just 12 appearances and netting twice. The towering forward did not play a single minute in 2021, but he is now ready for what remains of pre-season to fully impose himself on the English game.

The Belgian's arrival in Yorkshire does not mark his first venture in England. Oulare joined Watford in 2015, but after four loan spells away, he eventually signed a permanent deal with Standard.

The striker, who also spent some time with Liege before signing his first professional contract, is also a Belgian youth international and has scored 11 goals in 18 games from U18 to U21 level

The 25-year-old will now link up with Markus Schopp and the rest of the squad for the final push before The Tykes start the 2021/22 campaign away to Cardiff City.
