Leeds United’s season is drifting towards a mid-table finish, with Paul Heckingbottom unable to turn a play-off push back in the club’s favour following his appointment.

After a slow start to 2018, Heckingbottom, with Leeds turning to a different approach to resurrect a faltering play-off push, replaced Thomas Christiansen.

Heckingbottom has managed to pick up just one victory from seven fixtures, with Leeds winning six points from a possible 21, which has failed to put them back in play-off contention.

Phil Hay at the Yorkshire Evening Post has been analysing Heckingbottom’s first month in-charge at Elland Road, coming to the conclusion that a squad that is clearly not ready to challenge for promotion, needs the summer to come.
