‘Unplayable,’ ‘That was absolutely perfect’ – Many Derby County fans react to Rams ‘masterclass’ v Brentford

A number of Derby County supporters have been hailing the Rams’ second-half fightback against Brentford on Tuesday as they managed to rescue a point from what looked like a certain defeat.

The Rams endured a torrid opening 45 minutes against an in-form Brentford side who were full of confidence having won three of their last four heading into the fixture. It was a performance filled with individual errors by Wayne Rooney’s side in the first half and that allowed their automatic promotion-chasing opponents to take full advantage and get into a 2-0 lead at the break.

However, at half-time Rooney made his displeasure known by making three substitutions, with all three of Louie Sibley, Lee Gregory and Teden Mengi coming on for Kamil Jozwiack, Louie Watson and Max Bird respectively. That helped to transform the match and the Rams swiftly got back into the contest after just two minutes in the half with Gregory grabbing his second goal for the club.

Sibley then also produced a moment of real quality to equalise with an excellent 20-yard effort in the 86th minute to complete the turnaround for Derby.  It will be a performance that they will now need to build from in the coming matches and they can take real confidence from the quality and desire that they showed.

Many Derby fans were quick to hail the players and Rooney for his changes at halftime and suggested that it was a masterclass of performance to turn things around.
