Lee Bullen has been left picking up the pieces of Sheffield Wednesday’s season, which despite a 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day, is on the verge of collapsing, with a play-off push looking unlikely.  

Bullen is in temporary charge at Hillsborough, having stepped in to replace Carlos Carvalhal, who lost his job with the Owls following a defeat to Middlesbrough last Saturday.

That dismissal ended Carvalhal’s semi-successful spell in South Yorkshire, which saw the Portuguese boss build a strong squad and record back-to-back play-off appearances.

Despite failing to inspire Wednesday to more success this season, and eventually losing his job at Hillsborough, Carvalhal has found work quickly following his dismissal, with confirmation this lunchtime that he has been appointed as Swansea City’s manager in the Premier League.

Carvalhal has replaced Paul Clement at Swansea, and takes charge of the Welsh outfit, who find themselves struggling in the top-flight and facing a relegation battle.
