Coventry City midfielder Gustavo Hamer has been linked with a move to Brighton and Hove Albion in recent days.

According to Football Insider, Brighton boss Graham Potter is keen to mix things up in his midfield, and that Hamer is a player on the club's radar.

Hamer has been fantastic for Coventry City this season, laying on ten assists and scoring three goals in 39 Championship appearances.

With all of the above in mind, we asked FLW's Coventry City fan pundit Neil Littlewood whether he expected Hamer to stay or go if Brighton came in for him.

"Of all the players that could leave I think Gus is probably the one most suited to the Premier League." Neil told FLW. "At a club Brighton, he could suit them as well. I think he could play some great stuff there. "I expect him to stay, unless we get a silly offer. I don't think we can let him go for less than 10 million, which might seem a little bit farfetched to some people, but you put a price on the importance he brings to the squad. We're a better side with him in it.

We've been lowballed for players before and Gus himself has come out and said that he's happy to stick around for the time being so, hopefully stays. "I reckon we can get one more season out of him."

The Verdict

Having just signed a new contract with the club, Coventry are in a strong position when it comes to Hamer's potential sale this summer.

If they really want to keep him around they can do - the player seems happy to do so given he signed that new deal.

He'd be a massive loss to the Sky Blues midfield and I think Neil is spot on that it would have to be a big offer for Coventry to want to sell.

If Brighton's interest is serious, it will be interesting to see what they value Hamer at.
