Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford is focusing on coming back and making a positive impact for his new club after his unfortunate start.

The 25-year-old joined the Whites for around £7m this summer but had to be patient in his quest for first-team football due to the form of Kemar Roofe.

However, Bamford suffered a major blow when he went off with a knee injury in an U23 game earlier this month, which has ruled him out for four months.

Yet, the former Middlesbrough man isn't letting that get him down and told Leeds Live that he is focusing on getting back to fitness and contributing for the Yorkshire side:

"It's frustrating, but to be honest I'm trying not to think what ifs, what could have been. Now, I'm just concentrating on coming back stronger. Hopefully it'll be like having a new player when I come back around the New Year."

He also revealed that one of his teammates is helping him stay upbeat after his injury:

"I'm really good mates with Lewis Baker. He lives literally a 30-second drive away from me, so I hang out with him a lot. Yes, just find different things to pass the time. I'll find new hobbies and see where it takes me."

The Verdict

This is a great attitude from Bamford and it's the right way to be. His injury was unfortunate but these things happen in football and now it's about recovering.

It's good to see that he is getting support from his teammates though and they will help keep his spirits high.

As Bamford says, he will be like a new signing when he returns and he will surely be motivated to join up with the side if they maintain this form.
