‘Unfinished business’ – Many Huddersfield Town fans get involved in David Wagner debate

Many Huddersfield Town fans have looked back on David Wagner’s time in charge of the club, where the German coach gained promotion to the Premier League with the club.

After spending time with Bundesliga giants Dortmund as manager of their reserve side, Wagner was appointed Huddersfield boss in 2015, replacing Chris Powell.

During the first year with the club, Wagner looked to develop a squad capable of gaining promotion to England’s top flight and that was something that happened in May 2017.

Wagner would ensure that his side remained in the Premier League during the first season, but his third season in charge saw various struggles on the pitch and he would leave with the club say rock bottom, seeing his contract mutually terminated.

Huddersfield would suffer relegation last season to the Championship and they have struggled to find consistent form in England’s second flight under the management of Danny Cowley.

Since leaving the club, Wagner has taken charge of Bundesliga side Schalke 04, where he has guided them to sit in a Europa League place as things stand.
