Hull City have signed Jordy de Wijs, according to the club's official website.

de Wijs joins the Tigers on a three-year deal after an undisclosed fee was agreed with PSV Eindhoven for the defender.

The 23-year-old plays as a centre-back and becomes Hull's fourth summer signing after the arrivals of Reece Burke (West Ham United), David Milinkovic (Genoa) and Eric Lichaj (Nottingham Forest).

The former Netherlands under-21 international had been with PSV since he was a child, playing a handful of first-team games.

The Belgian-born defender also spent a spell on loan with Excelsior Rotterdam, playing 34 Eredivisie games.

Now, he completes a move to Hull, where he teams up with Nigel Adkins' side ahead of their Championship campaign.

Burke and de Wijs come in to fill the void left by Nottingham Forest bound Michael Dawson at centre-half.

The Verdict

If de Wijs can fulfil his potential, he could prove to be an excellent addition.

It will be tough for him to adjust to life in England but he seems to have the physicality to cope with the demands of the Championship.

I'm sure that Burke and Angus MacDonald (when fit) will be the preferred options to start with but de Wijs will be eyeing a long-term spot in the team.
