Stoke City are readying a move for former QPR midfielder, Jordan Cousins according to the Daily Mail.

Cousins is set to become a free agent, after the Hoops opted not to renew his contract at Loftus Road.

In total, the midfielder made 28 league appearances for QPR last season, as they struggled in their battle to avoid the drop into League One.

There were high hopes for Cousins when he first arrived at the club back in 2016 from Charlton Athletic after a number of impressive performances.

But he's struggled for consistency in recent seasons, and many of the QPR supporters will be pleased to see the back of him heading into next season.

Stoke's interest might come as a surprise though, with the Potters looking to add quality to their side for a promotion push in next year's campaign.

But would Cousins be a good signing for Stoke?

We discuss....

Kealan Hughes:

"Cousins is a good player, but not what Stoke need right now, and is not the sort of player who will be key in a promotion push.

"He has stagnated since his move to QPR, initially struggling for game time and since then, has not lived up to his promising displays at Charlton.

"Stoke will be aiming for promotion after a shocking season. Signings like Nick Powell are a positive move in the right direction, but it is difficult to see how Cousins is an upgrade on their current midfielders."

Gary Hutchinson:

"He's a decent player who could cut it in the Championship, but do Stoke need another midfielder?

"I can't see the value here. Strengthen at the back, by all means.

"Add a striker or two, definitely. But another midfielder?

"An odd choice."

George Harbey:

"This is somewhat underwhelming given the calibre of players that Stoke have been linked with since the end of the season.

"Cousins has hardly made an impact at QPR, and was the subject of some major criticism last time out, after putting in quite a few below-par performances.

"I can see why Jones wants to sign him, as he is an energetic, hard-working midfielder who would add some real tenaciousness to the Potters midfield."
