Sunderland have had a good season in League One despite losing their EFL Trophy final last Sunday.

The main focus is evidently the league and automatic promotion is still technically in their hands, with two games in hand on the team above them in Barnsley.

Jack Ross has been calm and done an excellent job at the Stadium of Light, getting the best out of many players.

There are a few that have underperformed though.

Here, we look at two players who have failed to live up to high expectations set at the start of the campaign.

Do you agree with us, or have we missed a player who has disappointed you more this season? Let us know in the comments section below.

Glenn Loovens

Glenn Loovens was tipped to be an experienced head to come in and guide Sunderland back to the Championship this season, but he has hardly featured.

Now at 35, Loovens must be doubting his future in the game, if he can’t get game time at this level.

Dylan McGeouch

Sunderland appeared to have pulled off a coup in signing the midfielder but it hasn't worked out for him.

He's a good player but it would be no surprise to see him change club again in the window.
